Police took Zahidur Rahman, the ex President of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, along with two other arrested people, on a two day remand each on Monday. The other two arrested persons are Jamaat-e-Islami tribunal defence lawyer Asad Uddin and Mohammad Abdur Razzak. The remand order was given by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jahangir Hossain on Monday.
Before this, Asad Uddin had been produced on Sunday afternoon at Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court by police official Md. Mahbubul Alam who asked for 10 days remand for further investigation.
The lawyer of the arrested activists had asked for cancellation of remand and prayer for bail, upon which the judge had set Monday for further sitting of the court on the same.
In the FIR of the report, it was alleged that on the 24th of October, the accused were conspiring together at Seven Seven Restaurant at Asadgate in the capital in order to foil the war crimes trials taking place in Bangladesh, when a team of detective police (DB) raided the place and arrested the accused.
