Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) president Kader Siddiqui said on Saturday declaring mayoral candidate’s name from Gonobhaban is violation of the constitution.
“In Bangladesh there is no justice. A prime minister cannot declare the name of the candidates from Gonobhaban,” he said while exchanging views with eminent citizens marking 60 days of his sit-in programme in front of his party office at Motijheel in the capital.
During the view-exchange, Kader Siddique said the prime minister might have to face dire consequence for violating the constitution. “A day may come when you will be hanged for violating the constitution,” Siddique said.
He observed that Ayub Khan and HM Ershad could not continue in power with the help of police and that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also will not be able to stay in power.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rab, said that the present government is ‘illegal and shameless’. Comparing the government to that of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, he said that he and Kader Siddique would not have fought for the liberation had they predicted the present plight of the state.
Kader Siddiqui’s wife Nasrin Siddiqui said, “My husband has been observing sit-in programme over the last 60 days on the footpath at Motijheel. I would not mind if he stays outside of home even for 60 years for the sake of public safety and peace”.
President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) ASM Abdur Rab, poet Al Mujaheedi, president of National People’s Party Sheikh Shaukat Hossain Nilu, former state minister for foreign affairs Abul Hasan Chowhury and general secretary of KSJL Habibur Rahman, among others, were present.
The eminent citizens requested Mr Siddiqui to spread his programme across the country.
Mr Siddiqui said he would announce his party’s next course of programme on April 1, 2015.
