Muhammad Kamaruzzaman on Saturday directed his lawyers to place arguments strongly during the hearing on his review petition to the Appellate Division that had earlier upheld the International Crimes Tribunal-2 sentence, death penalty.
He gave the direction during his 30-minute meeting with a 5-member team of his defence lawyers this morning at Dhaka Central Jail, defence lawyer Shishir Monir told New Age after the meeting.
Shishir said that his client advised them to argue on the issue that they could not cross-examine the investigation officer satisfactorily as the tribunal had closed cross-examination. The defence lawyer said that his client expected that he would get justice through disposing of the review petition.
‘My client is now physically fit and quite. He is not nervous at the Apex Court’s sentence,’ he said.
