Jamaat Calls Hartal for Wednesday Again

Islamists Battle Riot Police in Dhaka

Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh calls a nationwide dawn-to-dusk hartal  for Wednesday in protest of fixing the day for pronouncement of verdict in the trial of its Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed implicated in war crimes during the country’s independence struggle in 1971.
A Jamaat Executive Committee member told press that the party decided to enforce daylong hartal on Wednesday. This follows the hartal enforced today following the verdict of ex-Jamaat chief Prof Ghulam Azam.
Next course action would be fixed after pronouncing the verdict, the leader added.
Earlier, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2  set Wednesday to deliver verdict on a war crime case filed against  Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed.
