Awami League cadres cut ear, tendons of hand, feet of Dimla Shibir leader


Armed cadres of the Awami League have attacked and mutilated Apiar Rahman (22), an activist of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir at Dimla upazila bazaar in Nilphamari. According to media reports, the attackers cut off his ears and the tendons of his hands and feet. The barbaric attack happened during Monday afternoon at Thuthardanga bazaar of Dimla upazila, Nilphamari.

It was known that the armed cadres under the leadership of Awami League members Masud, Choru Mahmud and Faruk attacked Apiar when he was at a hair cutting salon in the bazaar. At one point, the attackers cut off the tendons of his two legs, and one hand, along with cutting off one of his ears. Then they handed him over to the police, who had to admit him quickly to the local health complex. When his health condition further deteriorated, police escorted him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

The critically injured Apiar Rahman is the President of Dimla Upazila Chhatra Shibir and is the son of Isam Uddin of the same area.

The attack was confirmed by both Abdus Sattar, the Ameer of Jamaat of the upazila, and by Ruhul Ameen Khan, the police OC of Dimla thana.
