Ulama League leader seized with yaba drug pills at Cox’sBazar

Police captured former Ulama League Secretary General of Cox’s Bazar, Bodiul Alam, with 400 pieces of the drug known as yaba. He is the son of Mir Ahmed Sikder from Sathgoria, Teknaf sub district. He was arrested from Rumaliarchora around 8:00 o’clock on Wednesday morning. However the district Ulama League leader stated Alam was ousted from the party last year. His associate Abdul Hakim, son of late Boshor Karim from Jahazpara, Gorzonia was also arrested.

Sub-Inspector (S.I.) Nurul Azim of Sadar police station, Cox’sBazar informed that they acted as buyers and captured him from Rumalia, Cox’sBazar. Four hundred pieces of yaba was seized from him. Two cases was filed against Bodiul Alam along with 4 others under the Narcotics Act.

Cox’sBazar district Ulama League President Mawlana Nurul Alam Sarkar and Secretary General Mawlana Rafi Uddin said they were observing scandalous activities for long time. He was also warned many times. A general diary was lodged against Alam as he did not restrain from these activities. Finally on last November 23rd he was expelled from the local secretariat committee of the party. Arrestee Bodiul Alam besides conducting UlamaLeague activities was also acting as administrative manager of Cox’sBazar International University.

Police in the same drive detained two more persons with 400 pieces of yaba from Hashemia Madrasa. Detainees are Md.Shafik (20), son of Mahmudul Hasan of Kothbazar, Ukihia and Nesar (30) son of Shamsul Alam from South Rumaliarchora. Cases was lodged against them in this regard on the same Act. Officer-In-Charge Motiul Islam (O.C.) of Sadar police station, Cox’sBazar stated they will be sent to jail through court.
