Jubo Dal Member Shot Dead by Police Following Arrest, Four Other Members Wounded

Police in action: Determined to hinder the ongoing protest by any means

A Jubo Dal member, Arif (22), have been shot and killed by Police after arrest at Nunachara, Sitakunda sub-district of Chittagong. Four Jubo dal members have also been shot in this incident. They are named Nurul Hadis, Sohel, Parvez, Rubel. All of them are local Jubo dal activists and live in Bariadhal Union. They are now admitted in Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

They were detained at 9pm on Saturday. Second sub-inspector of Sitakunda police station, Abdul Muttalib alleged they were trying to create anarchy on highway and were arrested with two petrol bombs and ten cocktails. Meanwhile when their companions threw cocktails towards police, police counter fired and five of them were shot down. Injured Arif died on the way to the hospital.

Jubo Dal’s summoner of the sub-district, Salah Uddin and BNP president of Bariadhal Union, Dr. Komol Kodor stated that, they all are local Jubo Dal activists. Police arrested them and took them into custody from various places. The police then shot them down by framing false scenarios. Sub-inspector of Chittagong Medical college police outpost, Johir stated, the body of Arif has been kept in the morgue. The wounded are receiving treatment in the hospital.
