Rapid Action Battalion-4 (RAB) personnel held five Chhatra Shibir leaders from a house at Savar, outskirts of Dhaka, early Wednesday.
The detainees are Dhaka north city Shibir president Abdur Rakib, Savar municipal Shibir secretary Alauddin Shakib, Savar Municipal committee student affairs secretary Fazal Ahmed, press and publicity affairs secretary Mahamudul Hasan and office secretary Ashikur Rahman. The detainees were taken to RAB-4 office at Mirpur.
Additionally in Mymensingh Kotwali Thana police arrested Jamaat central leader and former principal of Katlasen Kaderia Alia Madrasha Moulana Nurul Islam. He was arrested from his house of Maskanda road in the town on Tuesday on allegations of creating and plotting sabotage.
Kotwali thana Officer-in-Charge Golam Sarwar confirmed the matter.
Meanwhile in Manikganj police arrested the district Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami from near the regional passport office in the town on Sunday. The arrested was identified as Maulana Delwar Hossain, resident of Darogram village of Saturia upazila.
Police said a team of Sadar Police Station arrested Delwar from the area around 11:30am. Police superintendent Bidhan Tripura said Delwar was arrested as there were allegations of sabotage against him and also his alleged involvement in clashes in the capital during the rally of Hefajat-e-Islami on May 5.
“Police will interrogate him in connection with those allegations”, Tripura said.
