Members of the ruling party took out a procession in the capital, during which they attacked an auto rickshaw and exploded a few crude explosives. Several journalists were there covering the event and the activists attacked them, taking away their equipment and detaining them. The police arrived, and the journalists released. However, the activists were not arrested and allowed to leave. When journalists asked a police officer why, he evaded the question saying “this is not in my knowledge.” The journalists later had their equipment restored by local leaders of of the ruling party. Facing pressure from the journalists, the leaders promised to take their activists to account for the incident.
