Indian Border Security Force (BSF) tortured two Bangladeshi cattle traders to death in Fatepur area under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Wednesday. The deceased were Md Abdul Hakim, 35, of Thutapara and Sharif, 25, from Kharial, both under Monakasha union of Shibganj.
Commanding Officer of 9 Battalion of BGB, Lieutenant Colonel Abu Jafar Sheikh Mohammad Bazlul Hoque said the two went to India through Fatepur border Tuesday night. The BSF members of Shabghati camp of 20 Battalion, which is situated opposite Fatepur
Border Outpost (BOP) of the BGB in Bangladesh, caught them.
The BSF left them inside Bangladesh after torturing them, he said.
The locals saw Hakim’s dead body at the border and informed the BGB of the incident Wednesday evening, said the BGB official. He also confirmed that Sharif succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. On information, Shibganj police recovered the dead body of Abdul Hakim and sent it to the Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Sub-inspector Moazzem Hossain of Shibganj Police Station said there were marks of injury on the bodies. The BGB asked BSF for a flag meeting to protest at the killing.
