BSF kills a Bangladeshi at Satkhira

A Bangladeshi youth died after being tortured by members of Indian Border Security Force near border pillar 9 of Kaliyani border in Shatkhera on Saturday The victim, Jagadish Goshwami, 44, was a shepherd and resident of Gopinathpur of Jhaudanga in Shatkhira. Border Guard Bangladesh sources said the BSF troops from Dubli camp caught Jagadish after crossing the border illegally on Friday night and assaulted him physically and left him in unconscious condition near main pillar 9 Kaliyoni. He died on way to hospital after BGB members rescued him. Jagadish’s sister Lily Chakrabarty said, Jagadish was suffering from some neurological and stomach problems, he went to India for treatment. Operation officer of 38 BGB battalion at Satkhira Major Ahsan Habib said process was on to handover Jagdish’s body to his family. He said BGB would write BSF about the incident.
