The duo will appear before the Cyber Crime Tribunal
On Sunday a Dhaka Cyber Crime Tribunal fixed the date, November 17, for the indictment hearing of human rights organisation Odhikar’s secretary Adilur Rahman Khan and its director AKM Nasiruddin Elan.
Cyber Crime Tribunal Judge AKM Shamsul Alam passed the order.
Adilur appeared before the tribunal Sunday. But jail authorities could not produce Nasiruddin Elan because of the 18-party enforced hartal.
Earlier on November 6, AKM Nasiruddin Elan surrendered to the tribunal.
Arrested on August 10, Odhikar’s secretary was freed on bail on October 11.
On September 11, the newly-constituted Cyber Crime Tribunal of Dhaka took into cognisance the charges of publishing “fake, distorted and defamatory” information against Adilur and Odhikar Director AKM Nasiruddin Elan under section 57 (1) (2) of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
The case document was transferred from the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court to the Dhaka Cyber Crime Tribunal for trial on September 5 after the Detective Branch (DB) submitted specific charges to the Metropolitan Magistrate Court against Elan.
The DB submitted the charges after investigating the General Diary for distorting facts about the eviction drive against Hefazat-e-Islam at Shapla Chattar on May 5.
