Police in an overnight drive arrested 36 people, including a union unit ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, on charges of subversive activities, from different places of the district, reports United News of Bangladesh.
The arrested Jamaat leader was identified as Mawlana Abdul Bari, ameer of the Shobhanali union unit of the organisation in Ashumoni upazila.
Police conducted the drive from Saturday night to Sunday morning and arrested 36 people, including four Jammat men and two BNP activists.
Emdad Ali, inspector of Satkhira police (special branch), confirmed the incident.
