Two opposition leaders dead after tripartite clash between opposition, Awami League and police in Sirajganj

Two BNP supporters died during tripartite clashes between blockade supporters, Awami League activists and police in Sirajganj’s Belcucci upazila on Wednesday.

The incident took place on the second day of the BNP-led opposition 18-party alliance-called 48-hour nationwide blockade programme

The deceased were preliminarily identified as Masum Billah, 42, and Abdul Jalil, 40, both supporters of BNP, police said.

Witnesses said BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami supporters brought out a procession in Mukundagati Bazar area around 1:30am.

Belcucci police Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hai said the duo were hacked to death during the chaos. However, he did not elaborate further.
