The government has planned to form ‘Student Cabinet’ in the three secondary-level educational institutions in each upazila across the country, aiming to create awareness among youngsters about the importance of practicing democracy and democratic values.
The initiative will be taken after considering the views given at a national workshop, organised by Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) over formation of Student Cabinet in the secondary-level educational institutions, held on Monday.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present as the chief guest at the workshop held at the National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM), said a PID handout.
Speaking at the workshop, the minister said the ‘Student Cabinet’ will play a vital role in enhancing leadership quality, sense of responsibility towards the country and the nation and tolerance among the students in their early age.
The ‘Student Cabinet’ will be consisted of at least seven members to be elected by students and its duration will be of one year. This cabinet will play an active role in several fields, including maintenance of cleanliness, environment protection, health, sports and culture, water resources and tree plantation and gardening, said the handout.
Education secretary Mohammad Nazrul Islam Khan, NAEM director general Prof Mohamamd Hamidul Haque, among others, spoke at the workshop.
