The violent clashes in Khulna, Rajshahi, Comilla, Natore and Narail districts leaves scores of people injured including 20 bullet hit in separate clashes between police and opposition activists on Wednesday.
Meanwhile Jamaat-e-Islalmi called another countrywide hartal in the week for Wednesday protesting the move to execute its assistant secretary general Abdul Quader Mollah in charges wartime offenses.
At least 15 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir were injured with bullets as they clashed with police in Sonadanga upazila in Khulna during the 5th day blockade of the 18-party opposition alliance.
Around 7.30 am the clash ensued as police chased them to foil the blockade. Police fired over 100 rounds of bullet and lobbed teargas shells to disperse them, leaving 15 Shibir activists bullet-hit. Police arrested five of the injured Shibir activists from private clinic Cure Home.
In Rajshahi 20 Shibir activists were injured with bullets in separate clashes with police in Kajla, Shalbagan, Charkhutar intersection and Bornali area.
In Comilla at least 12 Jamaat-Shibir men and three policemen were injured in separate clashes between them in Comilla Sadar and Chauddgram upazilas.
Police fired 142 rounds of rubber bullet and lobbed several teargas shell to disperse Jamaat-Shibir men. Police arrested eight people from separate places.
In Natore at least 10 Jamaat-Shibir activists were injured as they clashed with law enforces in front of the central mosque of the district town in the morning.
In Narail calsh at least 15 policemen including the officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station were injured.
