A pick up van, filled with crude explosives, owned by a local leader of the governing party Awami League(AL),  was confiscated in the outskirts of the capital city of Dhaka, from the adjacent district of Narsingdi on Tuesday, 10th February 2015, night. The confiscation by the police took place after local people confronted anarchists at the Shilmandi area in the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. The locals confronted the throwers of petrol bombs in the highway, and the miscreant fled the scene after the confrontation. After the miscreants fled, the police recovered a covered van used by the miscreants.

Police recovered two petrol bombs, petrol cartridge and bomb making materials from the pick up van. It was learned that the pick up van belonged to the Shilmandi Union Farmer league (an affiliate of AL) Secretary Mr. Faruk. The Officer in Charge(OC) of the Narshingdi police station, Mr. KM Abul Kashem confirmed the news.

This incident is the latest in a series of incidents where governing party loyalists are either caught or are injured while making bombs or while exploding them. In the murky political situation prevailing in the country, such incidents are adding to the confusion as to who is actually behind the violence on the streets which has claimed more than 50 lives already.
