Bangladesh Police have imposed a restriction on portraying ‘police’ character and using their uniform in dramas and cinemas, BBC Bangla reported on Thursday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police additional deputy police commissioner (media and public relations), SN Jahangir Alam Sarker told BBC Bangla that a prior permission must be taken from the police authority before characterising a policeman in dramas and cinemas.
Jahangir Alam said letters have already been sent to television channels and concerned department of film industry in this regard.
Negative and comic presentation of police character in plays and movies convey audience a wrong message, he said. Also, a particular police rank sometimes mismatches with his or her dress.
