No scope for consensus now, claims Latif

The opposition wants Hasina-free country, a consensus is not possible in this, he says

There is no scope of a consensus in the current situation, Awami League presidium member and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui claimed Wednesday.

“The opposition does not demand for a caretaker government now, they demand for a country free of Sheikh Hasina,” he told reporters at a press briefing.

“Under this circumstances, I personally see no scope for a consensus between the two main political parties,” he said.

The country was now poised in a war between pro-liberation and anti-liberation forces, he said. “We must win in this.”

The minister was addressing a press briefing at the secretariat discussing the current political situation of the country.
