Fearing deterioration in law and order situation, state minister for Law Quamrul Islam on Sunday said Hefajat-e-Islam will not be allowed to hold its scheduled rally on December 24 at the Shapla Chattar in the capital, UNB reported.
‘Hefajat-e-Islam will not be allowed to hold its December 24 rally at Motijheel Shapla Chattar, as they want to create instability on the pretext of holding a rally. The government will not give them any scope to create such chaotic situation ahead of the parliamentary polls,’ he said.
The junior minister said this while addressing a joint meeting of 14-party Dhaka city unit in Awami League office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.
Pointing his finger at BNP-Jamaat, Quamrul, said, ‘You’re playing with fire. Its consequences won’t be good. We’ll have to wage another war against them.’
The minister, also the joint general secretary of AL Dhaka city unit, said whatever Sheikh Hasina is now doing is the right thing and everyone should assist her.
AL city unit general secretary Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya said they would resist even at the cost of their lives if Hefajat carries out any terrorist activities on December 24.
