To investigate the much talked seven murders and abduction case in Narayanganj, a new investigation officer has been appointed.
The move comes after relatives of slain city councilor Nazrul Islam alleged the IO was in good terms with prime suspect Nur Hossain, a local Awami League leader and councilor of NCC ward no 4.
Confirming the matter Superintendent of Narayanganj Police Khandker Mohid Uddin said the newly-appointed district detective police Officer in Charge Mamunur Rashid will now investigate the case.
On April 27, seven people including panel mayor of the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Nazrul Islam and lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker went missing. Their dead bodies were recovered from the Shitalakhya River several days later.
His wife Selina Islam Beauty filed a case of abduction against Siddhirganj unit Awami League Vice-President Nur Hossain and General Secretary Haji Md Yasin.
Police on May 3 raided Hossain’s house and detained 12 men from there.
