Finance minister AMA Muhith left Dhaka for USA on Wednesday on a three-week official tour to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) Group. The 2014 annual meetings of the IMF and the WB group will be held on October 9-10 in Washington DC. Prior to those meetings, the finance minister will attend to a number of programmes in New York. These include the 69th UN General Assembly, celebration of the 40th anniversary of Bangladesh’s membership of the United Nations (UN), and the Global Citizen Festival-2014. Muhith will also attend a luncheon to be hosted by American Chamber and American Business Council. During the IMF and WB group meeting, the finance minister will attend the thematic presentation on ‘Lessons and Challenges of Economic Transition’ and Luncheon by IDB Group. Besides, he will also participate in the Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting. Muhith will return home on October 17. He will be accompanied by his spouse, Sabia Muhith.
