The joint forces in separate drives arrested more than 60 activists of the opposition BNP-Jamaat from Joypurhat and Sirajganj districts on Tuesday night. During the nightlong separate drives until Wednesday morning law enforcers arrested 22 activists of Jamaat-E-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir from five Upazilas of Joypurhat district. Superintendent of Joypurhat police said several teams of police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members jointly conducted separate drives in Sadar, Panchbibi, Kalai, Khetlal and Akkelpur Upazila from Tuesday midnight to Wednesday morning and arrested the 22 six people. The 22 Jamaat-Shibir activists were held for their alleged involvement in subversive activities, including removing fishplates from rail trucks, vandalizing and torching vehicles, houses and shops and blasts cases. On the other hand Joint force in a drive arrested 41 from different areas of Ullapara Upazila on Tuesday from 11 am to 3pm on charge of committing sabotage acts. Tajul Huda, Officer in Charge of Ullapara Model Police Station said a joint force team consisting of about 100 members of police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh conducted drive in Bakua, Balsabari, Manuhar, Panchakushi of the Upazila and some places in Sirajganj municipality.
