The Bangladesh Human Rights Commission Chairman has said that Jamaat can be banned through an executive order by the government. He made this comment while visiting Hindu minorities affected by recent communal violence in Bashkhali. After inspecting the area, Mizanur Rahman said that his heart has bled by seeing the destruction. “I demand to the government to provide proper compensation and adequate security to the affected people. When asked whether Jamaate Islami can be banned for this incident, he replied that religious based parties are not prohibited under the constitution, but if any party causes acts of destruction using religious sentiment than that party can be banned by an executive order by the government. Terming the destruction as a ‘war against the state’, he has called for a proper investigation to find out those responsible.
