The International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) is expected to deliver the verdict in the war crimes cases against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Maulana Muhammad Abdus Sobhan on Wednesday.
The three-member tribunal (ICT-2) of Justices Obaidul Hassan, Md Shahinur Islam and Md Mozibur Rahman Miah decided to deliver the verdict after the conclusion of the proceedings that began on December 31 2013. It took one year to sum up the trial of Abdus Sobhan, the number three in the Jamaat-e-Islami leadership hierarchy. The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2, led by Justice Obaidul Hasan, kept its verdict pending after concluding the trial on Dec 4 2014.
Abdus Sobhan is Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, a political party current in opposition, and an ex-MP. He was born in 1936, at Toilokundi village of Pabna’s Sujanagar Upazila.
