Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia has said that she did not meet Indian President Pranab Mukherjee in 2013 as she received a death threat that time.
‘I had to cancel the meeting with Indian president Pranab Mukherjee in 2013 as I received a death threat. The opposition also planned to blame Jamaat if something had happened to me (on my way to the meeting).’ Said Khaleda Zia.
Khaleda Zia disclosed it to the New Delhi based Newspaper The Sunday Guardian after her recent meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Khaleda Zia also alleged the government tried so that her meeting with Narendra Modi could not take place.
Just before the visit of Narendra Modi, Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Minister AH Mahmood Ali declared that there is no scope of any meeting between Narendra Modi and Khaleda Zia.
After a few hours of that declaration, Indian foreign Secretary S Jaishankar in New Delhi clearly said that Narendra Modi will meet Khaleda Zia during his two days visit.
