Accusing Khaleda Zia of carrying out destructive activities for about 92 days, prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday directed the law enforcement agencies to hunt down the culprits who were behind the killing of innocent people in arson attacks across the country.
‘They (arsonists) must face trial…this is urgently needed for ensuring the security of public life and property,’ she said instructing the district administrations to remain vigilant so that the government’s development programmes could be implemented in time.
The prime minister was speaking at a videoconferencing with the district development committees of Natore and Feni at the cabinet division conference room, United News of Bangladesh reports.
Cabinet secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan conducted the videoconferencing.

‘I’ll say this is the crime against humanity…with such acts she killed over 150 innocent people,’ she said.
The prime minister also questioned what Khaleda Zia actually achieved during the 92 days of destructive programme in the name of movement.
‘The Awami League government still in power comfortably…we’ll be able to implement the programmes taken for the country’s development,’ she said.
Hasina said the government with the help of people is dealing with the destructiveness of the BNP-Jamaat alliance.
‘If we all remain united, we’ll be able to overcome the situation. Bangladesh will get back on development track again. I firmly believe we’ll be able to tackle the losses the country suffered in the last 92 days.’
The prime minister said she has the trust and belief in the people of the country, and wanted to know if politicians do politics for people then what is the reason behind killing people in the name of politics.
Giving a brief description of numerous development activities of the government, Hasina said Bangladesh is advancing fast although BNP-Jamaat alliance unleashed a reign of destruction across the country since January last.
Talking about the investment-friendly atmosphere in the county, she said once there were some problems about investment in the country.
‘But now the investment scenario is good, there’s no problem now…the investors have come here despite the volatile situation,’ she added.
The prime minister also mentioned that the government has been able to maintain over six per cent GDP and keep the inflation below seven per cent. ‘Bangladesh is now considered as a role model in the world.’
