After getting bail, Hefajat-e-Islam Secretary General Junaid Babunagari, who was arrested over unrest on May 5, returned to Chittagong on Monday night.
Babunagari was admitted to CSCR Hospital in the Prabartak intersection in Chittagong on Tuesday morning, sources said.
Earlier, he was under intensive care treatment at BIRDEM Hospital in the capital after being released on bail following prolonged remand in police custody. Hefazat states Babunagari was brutally tortured in custody. From BIRDEM he was sent to Chittagong by an ambulance at around 9.20pm Monday.
Meanwhile, his son-in-law Mohammad Abdullah informed: “Babunagari’s health is relatively better now but he is still suffering from the problems of kidneys, lungs and legs.”
Abdullah also said Babunagari returned to Chittagong mainly to see his aged and ailing mother.
