Dhaka: Terming the ruling AL (Awami League) ‘pro-liberation war government’, TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh) Chairman and former adviser to caretaker government advocate Sultana Kamal Saturday urged the government not to compromise with anyone.

“We don’t want to see AL compromising with anyone. We urge the government to be sterner in its actions aimed at eradicating fundamentalism, terrorism and communalism,” said Kamal.
This came as she was speaking at a discussion organized by Bazlur Rahman Foundation at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium Saturday noon.
“Many professionals and intellectuals keep themselves out of politics and then make comments. They, however, can’t stay like that. They have to take a specific position,” said Kamal.
Calling on the youngsters to help build a country free from the ideology of communalism and terrorism, Kamal said: “You must express your patriotism. If good governance can’t be restored, the country will be face ruination.”
“The rise of fundamentalism, terrorism and militarism happened after the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975. People who used Hifazat-e-Islam to create anarchy in the country will be thrown in the dustbin,” she added.
Ibrahim Khaled, Chairman of Bazlur Rahman Foundation, presided at the programme while Pijush bandyopadhyay, Managing Director of BFDC (Bangladesh Film Development Corporation) and Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed, President of FBCCI (Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry), addressed the discussion among others.
