Detective Branch police pressed charges against Odhikar secretary Adilur Rahman Khan, its director Nasiruddin Elan under ICT Act and Bangladesh’s Penal Code.
The charges brought in connection with the offence, committed under the Penal Code and the Information and Communication Technology Act.
DB inspector Ashraful Islam submitted the charge sheet to the general registrar office of Chief Metropolitan Court under sections 57, (1), (2) of Information and Communication Technology Act and sections 505, 505(c) of Penal Code.
On September 2, the High Court directed the jail authorities to entitle detained Odhikar secretary Adilur Rahman Khan, also a former attorney general, to facilities of a class-I prisoner.
Earlier, Adilur sent to Kashimpur Part-1 jail in Gazipur and was put in a room along with at least five other general prisoners accused of narcotic cases, said the prison officials.
On August 14, metropolitan magistrate Md Mustafa Shahriar Khan sent Adilur to jail following a High Court order asking the police to move him to jail from police custody.
On August 10, the Detective Branch of police arrested Adilur in front of his Gulshan house and accused him of fabricating facts about the death figure in the police action on Hefajat-e-Islam activists at Motijheel on May 5, this year.
