Another bullet ridden opposition victim of police firing dies at Sirajganj in police custody

Jamaat-e-Islami activist Saidur Rahman (40), who suffered severe injuries after being shot by police, succumbed to his injuries while under treatment in police custody at 1:30 am past midnight on Monday, 02 February, 2015 in Ullapara, Sirajganj. His death was confirmed by Sirajganj General Hospital physician Dr Waliur Rahman Talukder.

The deceased is a Rukn (advanced member) of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and General Secretary of Ullapara Sadar Union Jamaat. He is the son of Bosir Uddin of Bokua village of Ullapara.


Earlier in the day, on Sunday, 01 February, 2015, Saidur Rahman suffered from bullet injuries after being shot in a police operation at around 3 pm after noon at his village Bokua.

According to police claims, Jamaat-BNP affiliated miscreants threw explosive cocktails at police, when the law enforcement agencies went to raid a spot on information of a alleged secret meeting being held for purposes of sabotage and violence. Police “retaliated”, firing several rounds at the miscreants.

After the “incident”, police captured bullet ridden Jamaat activist and leader Saidur Rahman. He was subsequently admitted to Sirajganj General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and deteriorating health condition at 1:30 am past midnight on Sunday.
