Police or fire service did not reach the spot even after four hours (official) of the collapse
Law enforcers were late in arriving to the scene where a four-storeyed building collapsed before completion in Old Dhaka on a holiday Friday morning.
The entire structure of the under-construction building, located in Roghu Das lane near district court in Koltabazar area, caved in around 9am, police said.
However, witnesses said the incident took place around 6am, Dhaka Tribune photographer Mahmud Hossain Opu reported from spot.
Sub-Inspector Arafat Ul Hoque said no one was injured in the incident, when Shutrapur police was contacted around 12:30pm.
However no Fire Service and Civil Defence or police forces were seen to reach the spot even four hours (official ) after the collapse around 1pm.
“I contacted the fire service and it was then that they came to know about the collapse. But they did not arrive yet,” Mahmud Hossain Opu said.
Reason for the building collapse can be ascertained after the officials investigate.
Friday of is a holiday in the country and that of November 29 followed a week of violence in several areas of Bangladesh.
