BNP led 18 Party alliance’s 3rd day blockade underway

The 72 hour road-rail-waterway blockade program enforced by the opposition BNP led 18 Party alliances underway amid stray incidents vandalism, blasts, clashes and arson attacks across the country on Monday.

Meanwhile Bangladesh Jamaat-E-Islami, key ally of BNP also observe their nationwide shutdown to protest Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah’s full verdict handover to court for implementation of the death penalty.

The fresh spell of blockade program started at 6:00am Saturday and it will continue until 6:00am Tuesday if it is not extended further as done during the previous two spells.

The blockade supporters blasted six crude bombs at Shanir Akhra in Jatrabari, Mirpur-1, Tejgaon and police arrested a female named Shahnur from city’s Gulshan area in the early hour of the day.

No long-route buses left Mohakhali, Sayedabad and Gabtoli terminals while very few of local transports were seen plying the city roads.

The BNP led 18 Party alliances observed continuous 202 hours of blockade across the country in two spells to protest the polls schedule announcement and false cases against its leaders and activists.
