The Border Guard Bangladesh members on Sunday night detained a total of 44 Bangladeshis including 19 women and 8 children while they were intruding into India and sliding back illegally. They were picked up from Putkhali frontier under the Benapole port police station, said Shamsur Rahman, Putkhali camp in-charge of 23 BGB Battalion, Jessore. BGB sources said that of the detained, 16 women, 12 men and 8 children were held after they entered into Bangladesh territory from India while 3 women and 5 men were caught while trespassing to India using the same frontier. The intruders were hailed from Khulna, Narail, Gopalganj, Faridpur and Barguna districts and were later handed over to the Benapole port police. The Benapole port police officer in-charge, Apurba Hasan, said the arrested persons were produced before a Jessore court on Monday noon.
