Miscreants killed a 20-year Bangladeshi woman after kidnapping her from a passenger train at Kanpur on way to New Delhi from Kolkata in India. The incident took place in front of her mother and a six- year old at around 3:30 am Indian time on March 9, said Moni Banu, mother of the victim. The mother Moni Banu is blind.
Referring to her granddaughter Kakoli, 6, she told journalists that her daughter was kidnapped from a passenger train on way to New Delhi by about five miscreants in a vehicle. ‘A fat man took her into the vehicle and wore a red cloth,’ she added.
Rahela Begum of Sonadanga, Khulna, aunt of the victim, told journalists at Benapole land port that the girl was killed after being raped by the miscreants. They had gone to India for medical treatment. She disclosed the name of the victim as Nargis Begum, 20, daughter of Shahabuddin of 3/1, KDA Road, Sonadanga, Khulna. ‘She is survived by a six-year old daughter’, the victim’s aunt added.
The mother and her granddaughter were sent to Bangladesh without passport by some locals in India as the blind woman and the baby were crying near the railway station at Kanpur in India.
The Indian police later recovered the passports and the body from Ladon in Firojabad and the body was sent to the local medical college hospital by the police, Rahela said.
Being informed by the Khulna Metropolitan Police, relatives of the victim rushed to Benapole on Aril 19. The body reached the land port and was handed over to them at around 11am on Monday.
Aslam Hossain, officer in-charge, Benapole immigration police confirmed that the body was handed over to the relatives upon receiving it from India.
