Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF

A Bangladesh national was shot dead by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in Sapahar upazila in Naogaon district early Thursday. The deceased was identified as Jahirul Islam, 38, son of Abdul Latif Miah, a resident of Duar Pal Paschim Para area of Porsha upazila of the district. Lt Col Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, commanding officer of BGB-14, said a group of cattle traders had gone to India to bring cattle. BSF members from Tekkapara area of India detained Jahirul while they were returning from India through Main Pillar No. 232 of Hapania border in Sapahar upazila. They shot Jahirul after torturing him, leaving him dead. Locals recovered the body from Hapania border area on Thursday morning, according to a news agency.
