Anonymous hacks Bangladesh government websites; protests excesses and abuse of rights by govt

Several government websites came under a wave of cyber attacks on Sunday morning, Feb 01, 2015. The list include websites of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, Bangladesh Passport, Bangladesh police, Bangladesh army, RAB, Bangladesh telecom, Bangladesh Technical Education Board, Bangladesh NTCB and Bangladesh DSHE, hacked by the famous hacker group Anonymous. The website of the Russian embassy in Bangladesh was similarly hacked by a Mexican hacker group. Although several websites have returned online, most of the websites still appeared to be down.

Moreover, the website of Channel 24 appeared to have been hacked since the past two days. Recent news of the hacking of the websites of The Daily Sun and Dhakar Radio have also been received.

It is mentionable that prior to this, the websites of the Daily Star, Daily Independent, Prothom Alo and Bangladesh Pratidin, along with those of several other newspapers had been subject to hacking by Anonymous. The famous hacker group has declared via social media that it intends to continue its hacking operation, dubbed Operation Bangladesh ( #OpBangladesh ), till what it mentions as “the fall of the tyrant Hasina” is ensured.
