Allama Sayedee verdict: Jamaat calls for calm and restraint

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following press release on 16th September, 2014.

In view of the announcement that tomorrow (17th September, 2014) judgment will be passed by the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh in the appeal filed by Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami calls upon its members, followers and supporters to maintain calm and  exercise restraint.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami also notes with concern that various quarters are instigating lawlessness and planning acts of violence with a view to implicate it in such unlawful acts of violence. Jamaat also urges its friends, followers, supporters, well-wishers and the people of the country to remain vigilant against such attempts, particularly against attacks on religious communities.

As a political party committed to democratic values, Jamaat-e-Islami strongly believes in expressing its views in a peaceful and democratic manner.

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami once again urges its supporters to exercise patience and fortitude in these difficult times.
