A metropolitan magistrate court on Wednesday granted a fresh three day remand to interrogate the Daily Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman, our court correspondent reported.
The remand granted as a case was filed against Mahmudur with Ramna police station on February 22, 2013, on charges of vandalism, obstructing police from performing duty, blasting crude bombs and spreading religious extremism.
Metropolitan magistrate Harun-or-Rashid granted the remand as Mir Rezaul Islam, a sub inspector of Ramna police station, prayed for a fresh 10-day remand to interrogate him further.
Police produced Mahmudur before the court at about 11.00am. He had no lawyer representing him today.
Rezaul said Mahmudur Rahman is a FIR-listed criminal while Mahmudur said on the doc that he was under house arrest during time those crimes were committed.
Mahmudur was arrested on April 11, from Amar Desh office four months after he was prosecuted, in line with a High Court directive, for publishing reports on Skype conversations between an ICT justice and a Bangladeshi expatriate living in Brussels.
