The authorities have detained three activists of Islami Chhatri Sangstha from Shamsunnahar Hall of Dhaka University.
The detainees are Umme Kulsum Joli, a third year student of World Religion and Culture department, Fahmida Akter, fourth year student of English department and Saimun Akter , first year student of Journalism department.
Hall Provost Sajeda Banu said: “On information provided by the Chhatra League unit of the hall,we detained them from the prayer room with books and documents of Islami Chhatri Sangstha around 5am on Monday.”
Meanwhile, another activist Israt Jahan fled the scene sensing the presence of the authorities.
“Temporarily, we will cancel their seats in the hall and hand them over to their guardians,” she said.
DU Proctor Amzad Ali said: “Academic actions will be taken against them after investigation. We did not hand them over the police as they are girls.”
